Glad the weekend is here...
« on: February 16, 2007, 02:18:41 AM »
Today is my Friday...3 days off until my next shift and I'm ready for a little downtime and having some fun for once.

I've been kicking myself trying to get a class taught to 3 stations in my battalion, running several calls on the ambulance Moday, caught 2 structure fires in 2 days while I was on the engine being the first one in on the line, and today's theme was half naked intoxicated men being found lying in the crusty snow.  The first one this morning was beaten, stripped to his tighty whiteys and a t-shirt and left in a park, the second an elderly gentleman whose dog wouldn't pee on the snow, slipped and was found about 30 minutes later by a neighbor bleeding and half frozen in his bedroom slippers, pajama pants and a t-shirt...

The Sabres are playing tonight, I've had a few beers, and I think maybe a couple shots may be in order...then I hope to find somebody in the server tomorrow or Saturday.

I should write a book....

I've always had an interest in hockey and have recently acquired a spouse who promotes that interest to a point that we've attended 2 games with plans to attend a third yet this season. We've also gotten NHL Center Ice on Direct TV...

It also helps that we're both from the Niagara/Buffalo area....  ;)

She's actually gone to a few games when she was a teenager and would probably recognize the name... my grandfather was a hockey fan, but both my parents weren't, so that name really doesn't ring much of a bell with me.

Ok...the name wasnt familiar to me either. I came across a set of Hockey Legends sports figures and i knew the rest of them......Bobby Orr, Daryl Sittler, Bobby Clarke, Bobby Hull, but i had no clue who this guy Perreault in a Sabres jersey was.  Thought he was an old timer but he actually played in the 70's and 80's.

Guy Perreault.....awesome skater and puck handling, exceptionally fast if memory serves me right.

Saw him many times, I was a Flyer's season ticket holder from their origins in the mid 60's to the early 80's.

Don't like today's game, have to admit I miss the fights.

Kelly said he was from the earlier days in the Sabres.... She said he was part of the French connection.

There still are a few good physical teams out there and the ones that aren't still have one or two enforcers that will mix it up to get the crowd back into the game.

Hockey is as close as I come to having a vice right now... I would like to see soccer become a little more popular...  :o change that, the ticket prices will get higher then... lol

Nice!  Must have been great games to watch.  FLyers had some great players during that period.....Bobby CLarke, Bernie Parent, Reggie Leach.

And don't forget Dave "The Hammer" Schultz, he made things interesting by terrorizing the opponent.......the foundation piece of "The Broad Street Bullies".   ;D
