Beware Gift Card "Theft"
« on: November 30, 2006, 05:37:49 PM »
Sent to me by a friend....

Subject: Gift Card Purchases

More good information passed on by your friendly Deputy Sheriffs....

This is very important information to those of you that are planning on buying “Gift Cards” this season.

Well the crooks have found a way to rob you of your gift card balance.  If you buy Gift Cards from a display rack that has various store cards you may become a victim of theft.  Crooks are now jotting down the card numbers in the store and then wait a few days and call to see how much of a balance“THEY” have on the card. Once they find the card is activated", they go online and start shopping.  You may want to purchase your card from a customer service person, where they do not have the Gift Cards viewable to the public.

Please share this with all your family and friends...

Good info for me since I often give American Express cards as business gifts.

Further research  ..  as long as the "number" is covered   most have either a sticky tab or need to be scratched off   it should be okay  but if the number is exposed in any way   look elsewhere

 Ladies be careful........
I don't know how many of you shop at Sam's Club or Costco, but this may be useful to know. My wife became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. This happened to her and it could happen to yours!!

Here's how she said the scam works:

Two seriously good-looking 23-year-old well-built guys come over to your car as you are packing your shopping in the trunk. They both are shirtless and start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their highly-defined chest muscles and rock-hard abs exposed.

It's impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to another Sam's Club or Costco.

You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start talking dirty about what they want to do to you. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and begins kissing your neck and begs you to pull over so he can make love to you!!

While this is going on the other guy steals your purse!!

She told me she had her purse stolen last Tuesday, Wednesday, twice on Thursday, again on Saturday, yesterday, and most likely tomorrow.

HEY.....Wait just a minute..........

But on a possitive note. She did get the windshield clean and it only cost the contents of the purse.. So not all is lost. LOL
