Inauguration Day
« on: January 20, 2009, 01:38:06 PM »
Today is the beginning of the Obama Presidency.

While I did note vote for President Obama I wish him well and do hope he fulfills the hopes of the many people who have put their faith in him.

There are things I like about him (his abortion position), things that concern me (gun control) and things I am anxious to see what he will do, (Iraq) As for the economy I am sure we all hope for improvements.

I am actually optimistic about Obama, he seems to have brought a new sense of enthusiasm to the people if the United States and perhaps also in many foreign countries.

I would like to see his inauguration speech live but will miss it because of business travel. I consider Obama one of the great orators of our day, his speech has the potential to be a historic moment like those of Lincoln, Kennedy and King.

Today is the beginning, I support him as our President and do hope he can fulfill the optimistic outlook so many have for his Presidency.

He will be gone in 4 years, not able to keep the promises that got him elected in the first place.

Let's pray that you are correct and the damages caused by his presidency are not permanent.

As of today Americans are being forced to live under a communist leader.  Lets hope it's not forever.

9 politicians out of 10 cannot keep the promises they did during the course to leadership, so he cannot be worst than the other.

Today is the beginning, I support him as our President and do hope he can fulfill the optimistic outlook so many have for his Presidency.

I agree with you.

Now to general...

Personnaly, I dont think it s gonna help the American to start with negativism. Let him give it the try then after people could critic...

He is the President of the USA because  the american DEMOCRATY elected him, so , please, live with it, he s the choice the majority made, not a presidential lottery winner.

If you dont like the result, you can always move to a Banana Republica that fit your wishes, but still there will be something there too that will not please you. It s there in EVERY country.

He s not GOD, as far as I know, he never said he was either, so if he  just does 1/100th better than the last one,  it will better... Even if he does not respect all the promises... (they all do thatso where is the difference).

Do you think that trying something different for once will be so dangerous?

Hope for you that everything will be fine for the next 4 years. As for myself, I dont think it can be really worst than the last 8 years.

The only thing that I find somewhat annoying about the election is the perception that the US has turned a corner in in racism by electing a Black candidate to the Presidency.

The election result is not as significant of racial acceptance with the citizenship as many would have us believe. In actuality it still showed a large racial divide.

The vote need to be looked at by breaking down the electorate into ethnic categories. Doing so shows the vote was very racist and not truly indicative of racial acceptance.

The black vote was about 90% for Obama, an unheard of majority for a vote based on poitical merit. It was in fact a very racist vote of blacks voting for a black and not for individual merit. That, unfortunately, is indication of a vote rampant in racism, not one of unity without regard to race, religion or color.

Only difference is this time the blacks wielded the racist power.

as to racism or equal rights or affirmative action, my most memorable experience with that was in three different instances that I was not hired simply because I was a white male and one of the applicants was not.

When I tested during college for the Minnesota Highway Patrol I scored higher than some of those accepted yet they were accepted and I was not because they were given BONUS points for being black or female or hispanic...The test conductors even explained it to us so we would know that is the only reason... ::)
To say it enraged a few of us passed over cause we were white males is an understatement >:(
minnesota is 94% white so they always had trouble qualifying for federal money in all areas, college, LE, etc...cause they cannot reach "equal opportunity"/"affirmative action" numbers without massively dropping the standards for minorities in head to head competitions.
Part of why I moved to texas eventually. 20% white/80% hispanic areas are blatantly racist in both directions but at least dont bother playing these stupid political feel good games constantly.

Plus Minnesota became a communist state with communist ideas of gun freedoms...

please stop saying the USA is a democracy.  WE ARE A REPUBLIC!
a democracy is mob rule. the founding fathers were terrified of the concept of mob rule so they purposefully directed us to be a republic.
the primary idea of a democracy is that all people living there has a vote, the primary idea of a republic is that only citizens of the country get the responsibility of voting.   HUGE DIFFERENCE.

thank you, and have a nice day everyone.
even Canadians.

PS
I wish Obama luck as well, I just hope he respects our freedoms and liberties in regards to gun rights as well as how much he claims to respect our rights to habius corpus and fair trials...his history scares the hell out of me though.
Bush raped our constitution and I fear Obama will as well. Just cause different politicians choose to discard different parts of our BILL OF RIGHTS WRITTEN INTO OUR CONSTITUTION THEY ARE SWORN TO UPHOLD AND DEFEND doesnt mean we should let any of them get away with violating any part of it for any reason.

Many of us swore to "uphold and defend the constitution of the United States of America" at one time or another. Not to uphold the government of the USA, just the constitution, thats where that "all enemies, foreign and domestic" part applies...

I am sorry to insult brave well meaning warriors, but anyone who took that oath in good conscience must abhor the "patriot act" that spits upon the constitution we swore to defend, even if it gives the bad guys the advantage, our principals can not be negotiable.

I fear Obama's policies but I would willingly die at his lawful command defending my country, the same as any good american would. We just gotta remember to hold our leaders accountable on their end to stay within the framework of OUR constitution. Once they step outside of that framework and authorization, they must be stopped, by any and all who have sworn to protect the constitution with their lives.

THE BILL OF RIGHTS, NOT JUST A GUIDELINE...  ;)

Never said the country was a Democracy.

I said the way he s been elected was democraty (I meant democratic because he won the election, whatever the pattern is, and not because he won a presidential lottery or be given power by is brother who was the last president of the republic like in a Banana republic).

I can't say that I voted for Obama...
I won't say that I am happy he is in office...
What I will say is that I will respect his position as President...
I hope for the sake of our country and future....he will make sound and just decisions.

So far by releasing terrorists from Guantanamo Bay...it seems that his decisions are already questionable.

On a side note....isnt't funny that black America doesn't condemn racism when it works to thier benefit.
If something is wrong...it is wrong...PERIOD!

My 2 cents....Didit

I must be a mushroom...everyone keeps me in the dark and feeds me bullshit!
