My brother who is 35 in France has started playing this about two years ago. It has now gotten to a point that scares all of us.

He stays in his room all the time. Only plays WoW. Has cut all activities with all our friends. He bassicly, still works, and spend rest of time playing.

The other day a friend of mine asked him what he was doing this week-end and he said fishing. Well, he offered to go with him and he said he will have to join the game as he was going fishing IN THE GAME !!! Do not know how this is possible but that is what he does now.

So unless you can control yourself our have a life that obligate you to not always play, stay away from it. It's insanely addictive !!! Be Aware ....

Dont know if any of you guys watch South Park on Comedy Central.  They recently had an episode devoted to WOW and how  addictive it can be. If you get the opportunity, watch it, funny, funny stuff.   :D

LeGres, time for an intervention. The same phenomenon happened a few years back when Diablo2 came out. Lots of split ups due to obsessive playing!
For me, playing Asheron's Call felt like being a serious opiate addict... I took the resolution not to play for a full 3 days as I was putting a lot of stress on my relationship because of that. It was -by far- the most difficult test of character I have experienced in my life. It's a great learning experience though; I know myself and know how to recognise the signs early and DO something about it. Which is why, Seven, I play WoW with moderation.

To be honest with you, I might cancel my account in a few levels since all the higher level guys on there seem to take the game so darn seriously. I mean, you make a single mistake and everybody's upset, screams, etc. I'm *playing* not trying to save a life in the ER :)

Yea i happen to be a huge fan of southpark and personally own the episode in question on my ipod. This season they are just so much more radically invovled in bring attention to many social problems of America. After that wonderful WoW episode my parents were hooked. Just looking at the geek hooked them because unforinatly they know ppl like that.

Like everything, with moderation is the key. Every game has it addicts. You just have to remember it is a GAME and have fun. I am looking forward to "Age of Conan". It will be the first with a mature theme. They went throughthe Howard Estate to get permission, and it will be out by the end of the year. Another plus it turns to first person when in ranged attacks. But don't worry Seven I will always be here as long as I am able.  :happy2:
