My latest gun aquisition is a WW II Mauser Karbiner 98, or KAR 98.
The gun I aquired is better that I had expected, the only part that may not have been original to this specific gun is the butt plate and possibly the sight. The butt plate has no identifying number and the sight has some other number that may just be a part number.
All other parts are matched serial numbers. This includes barrel, receiver, magazine, barrel bands, stock, trigger housing and multiple bolt components.
The gun was made in 1941 at Mausers Oberndorf factory. That is Mausers original armory. There is also value in getting a gun made in 41 or 42. After those dates the demands of war lessened craftsmanship quality.
My gun is infantry grade, collector condition. Kars with more value are those made for the SS in Austria in labor camps and Kar Sniper Rifles which were held to the highest quality standards.
