A few new additions to the household
« on: June 03, 2007, 12:29:07 PM »
We were on our way back from town when we saw a lamb near a fence along side a back road.
We stopped at the house there to ask if it was theirs,
Noone came to the door so we left a note letting them know there was a lamb loose on the property, and to give us a call if we could be of an assistance.

The next day around 3 we got a call from the landowners brother they did not own a sheep, and to come get her.

So monday night after work i went out into a 20 acre field to chase the little devil around a bit. So with a pack of licorice as bait in hand. I was on a mission.

Brought her home and gave her a warm safe place to stay.

This is Sheba the sheep, and i didnt name her. I want to get 2 more and call em Larry Moe and Curly. LOL

And since its spring time calveing season is in full swing. Heres a couple we just picked up.
Daisey Top: Had a twin. She was the smaller of the 2 and the farmer didnt want to keep her. she was the first and is about 3 weeks old now, but in the photo she is only 4 days old.

Then about 10 days later there was Otto. He was a freebie because he was sick. The farmer didnt want to deal with a sick calf since he had so many and he all his calf hutches already full for now. So we took him. Hes 100% now and will be a huge bull calf. Newborn hes bigger than Daisey already.

Otto (L) meeting Daisy (R) Ive been bottle feeding before work and after, and Lady gives em the noon time bottle.

Im looking forward to the next calf, Then i can change all there names to Larry  Moe and Curly.  ;D

Enjoy,
Brother B

Sheba (the sheep) will probably stay with us. She was very shy and scitish at first, and is still a little mistrusting of ppl now. but she will come around in time. i think she will be a lifer at the Becketts farm. Unless i get hungry for a gyro and somebody will show me how to butcher a sheep.. lol

Otto (the bull calf) will get fed up and pampered til fall the will go to the sale barn and sold for stud breeding (hopefully).
He has good bloodlines (genitics) and shows to be a large broad bull at a very early age. time will tell though.

Daisy (the heifer calf) will stay here. Shes a very sweet lil girl and has a playful personality. Its halarious to watch her and play with her. she really makes me laugh at times. I'll get some video sometime of her playing. actually she just runs around alot and acts like an idiot. but is halarious.  She very demanding, and wants your attention.
