My method is very straight forward. I use gasoline for my car, so have stock in Oil company. I use Natural Gas for my home, so have stock in Natural Gas company.  Use electricity for my home, so have stock in Electrical Company.  Shop at certain retailers, so have stock in them. Use certain brand name appliances, so have stock in the companies that manufacture them.

Simple system, which makes me feel good and will make me a little money in the long run.  With the Internet Trading Companies now days, actually very easy for just about anyone to do. Worst part in any investments is tax time..:)

Actually DE you should look at this as a positive. If you are paying taxes you made money.......so don't complain

If you don't want to pay taxes just be a bum and don't earn any money. It's Catch 22.

As far as your investing philosophy goes you are actually very close to Peter Lynch's investment philosophy. Lynch is best known for his time as manager of  Fidelity's Magellan Fund, one of the largest Funds in the US. He is also considered an investing wizard, much like Warren Buffet.

Magellan Fund, during Lynch's time as manager, consistently beat the industry averages. If I am not mistaken many of his decisions were simply based on his personal opinion of a product or service. I also believe one example was Bic pens. He saw them for sale, used one, liked the price of the pen and bought the stock. The rest is history.

I could use a little of his help right now ;D

About time you show up >:(

The financial end of my mindset suspects your arrival is calculated, planned, and appropriate. With the market down your bank CD's are looking bit better, certainly safer ;) :D

However, do not get too cocky, I have mentioned ING in an earlier thread 8)

Disclaimer: To those who do not know Arch / Irish understand my comments are in wholly in jest. Irish can offer good advice and many various vehicles for savings. I have even sought his advice.

Well with a casino now open a 1/4 mile from my house and brining in 8 million dollars a day since last week when then opened, and with Erie County pushing for table games in the casino, looks like maybe some investing in MTR Gaming or some of the property that is now for sale around the casino.  I think Erie needs another Hotel; The Desert Eagle Inn...:)

Only one fund still in the red, VGENX. Being an energy fund I do not expect it to stay in the red for much longer.

Other 7 funds are all, once again, profitable for the year.

Question is, has the market stabilized?
