Hey DE, you could always go back to Iraq ;)

FYI, for those who do not know DE is one of our veterans who has done time in a war zone.

My hats is off to him

However perhaps his experience has left him with a longing for hot weather  ;D

BTW, having just heard from my daughter she is stuck in VA somewhere just north of Roanoke, VA. Apparently parts of I-81 are now closed because of snow and accidents.

She is pulling a horse trailer and currently camped out in a lobby of a Comfort Inn.

So look out DE......nice weather on the way in

If she heads East.... and up 95... the road conditions are not that bad. Worst it got was slushy this morning. We got 3-4 inches, but it was warm enough and sporadic enough when it fell to be manageable. If she needs anything Shamu, call me, I'm not far and could offer my assistance. I'm off tomorrow too.

Thanks for the offer Medic and much appreciated.

Her and her friend decided to lay up at the hotel they were at, they got on the waiting list and got a room.

Part of the problem is the she was supposed to pick up a horse somewhere near New Market on her way home.

She does not want to risk transporting a horse unless road conditions are reasonably good.

IMHO she is showing good sense, I am pleased she is taking a conservative approach to the travel.

Never seemed to mind hauling my own horses, but someone elses.......you seem to worry more.
Glad she is taking her time and using caution.
One time I was hauling my horses the trailer started rocking, was wondering what those fools were doing back there. Turns out an empty plastic bag came off the shelf and was blowing around in the breeze............guess the horses thought it was trying to attack them.  ::)

Horses can be spooky. They are not predators and there defense mechchanism is to run, it's inbred. Something threatening? Run like hell.

I'm sure it varies with breed but in my duaghters case it's all about Arabian's.....and they do like to run.

Actually went to Columbus, OH last night(Sunday), in the crappy weather hauling a 20 foot trailer down here.  In Columbus until Wed/Thurs due to work.  At lest it is around 40 degrees here and I can actually see the grass... :)

Oh and Shamu would gladly have gone back to war in Iraq, but for once in their lifes, I let my kids decide my fate if I should stay here or re-up and go back in.  If I would have just stayed in the Army I would be retiring this year...:)

So far now the best I can hope for is perhaps come on later tonight and perharps see some bugs and play freeze tag.
