Custom Maps??
« on: October 10, 2006, 05:16:16 PM »
Ok, I've been searching for some fun maps.
Actually I started out on different servers where the current map was something other than the usual ones......maps named: m1|2b,...m2|2a,....m3 something....
I didn't need to download custom maps for those, they were part of regular MOH game.
m1|2b was called axis motorpool.
m2|2a was Trondheim, (Norway)...a different submarine map.
m3|?? was Nebelwerfer Hunt.....this was a cool map, it took me almost 2 minutes to go from one end of the map to the other running.
So how can we get these maps to work in game?? Actually I'm not sure these were even FT games but they WERE different.
Also, I found some custom maps on the website www.digitalmilitiaclan.com
Algeirs Revisited was a really awesome map with all kinds of passageways.
The Overpass was another and The Hunt Revisited ( I didn't try this one yet)
But I had a problem and maybe it's just my computer. Maybe some of you other Bugs can try out the maps. Download them, put in your main, mainta and maintt folders then load it like you are playing a single player game. The problem I had was when I would fall and die....it would take me out of game and show a sound overload error. If it happens to other ppl, then perhaps it isn't a map to use...or it could be it just happens in single player, I don't know.
Anyway, I think having the m1, m2,and m3 maps on the server could be fun.

If the maps do not require a download to play and are run server side I suspect we are open to all considerations.

If the map requires a download, it has been my experience, it is best avoided. Traffic is often lost when downloads are required.

The current single player maps we are running seem to have been received quite well to date although a sound fix was required.

Variety is good and we can always dump what we do not like.

Maybe we can look into these individually and post comments and then try 1 or 2 most favored.

BTW I have downloaded the maps from your link to Digital into a storage folder.

Where are the others, m1, m2,and m3 maps, found or played.

I am familiar with the sub map and Nebel.... W/E, thats a sniper type map. Sub more run and gun but I get lost. The one I played also had some transport spots incorporated. The Clans Forum is http://www.xtremeinfantrydivision.net/

Think I may have seen Did_it there in the past.

Ok, I don't think the sound error problem is due to the custom map. I was in single player Destroyed Village, a normal map, and when I jumped to suicide I still exited the game with the sound error.

As far as the custom maps go......if we were to put them on the server, we could play them when the server has mostly Bugs. But I think all the Bugs would have to download the maps because if a custom map is running, Bugs without them would have nowhere to play until the next map change.
I know it sounds like a pain, but you should at least check the custom maps out. I went back to Algeirs Revisited and not only were there extended passages but I found 2 secret rooms with guns and ammo hidden in them. Funny, because I was trying something MI6 showed me one day in Verschneit (single player) where you can play the piano, only this time in Algeirs I tried the cello and the wall opened up.

I have already downloaded and tested the m1,m2 etc etc converted singleplayer maps. I am planning to work on them with the help of Desert Eagle.
They are cool but also HUGE cause most of them contain the whole level so we need to put some restrains to the maps. Its work in progress. Also it is possible to add freezetag in those but one step at the time :)

I personaly I am against the use of maps you need to download.
we have around 10 single player maps we could work but might take a while. are you willing to wait a bit?
ta :)

S.

I've never been clever, because need it never.

At this stage I too would prefer to avoid maps requiring downloads.

Sounds like there is enough out there to keep you busy with ones that can be adapted to FT.
