I use a converter (such as winavi) to convert all the video files in .vob file (dvd files) then I burn them with Nero.

I bought this, it's 60 bucks, but to me well worth it.  Very easy to use, and lots of capabilities for the novice video editor like myself.

Roxio to rip, and nero 7 ultra to burn. Alienware converter will convert just about anything.

For converting like you want to do ive used alot of differant programs. Dogz and MacG suggestions work real good. Im kinda fond of a program from RadVideo. Does an awsome job and easy to use.. limited at times but might be the hot ticket for you. If you want a copy let me know and i can get one downloaded to a FTP and give you a link. It used to be free, but i think there chargeing for it now.

PS or send me you address and i'll mail you a copy if that helps.
