So, how did you choose your name?
« on: April 11, 2007, 06:20:45 PM »
Some are obvious, but I was wondering how some of you came up with your game name.
For me, I liked Cobra.....but there are many Cobra's out there. Then I read about a military op code named Cobra 6 and thought "I'm a military op all to myself" LOL....so I chose Cobra_9.  ;D

When I first tried a MOH multiplayer server I had a different nickname. While browsing the servers I saw one called "Borg something". I joined and no one had "7 of 9" as a nick (7 of 9 is my fav star trek character) so I used that as my nick.
The next server I joined was the FS FT one.
I liked it so much there from the warm welcome I had to join again. And since ppl got to know me as 7 of 9 I kept it, even if I don't like using fictional characters nicknames as mine, I prefer originality and this is why I always wanted to change my nick.
After I left the FS I thought it was time to get a new nick but people knew me as 7 of 9, plus we were trying to contact old friends that used to play MOH and me having a different nick could be confusing.
So I shortened it to Seven. Not a bad number, seven miracles, seven wonders, seven deadly sins... 8)

To honor Star Trek and 7 of 9 I still use my assimilation binds in game  :borg

Seven (a.k.a. 7 of 9)

I've never been clever, because need it never.

I been using nano ever since I first played MoHaa.  MoHaa was the first ONLINE GAME and FIRST GAME in general that I ever played.  I was over my friends house and he said oh you should come up with your own game name so that when it's you r turn to play you can change your name so that people can call you that.  So I did, I thought really hard and I didn't want anything that every one else had, So...I took my name "Fernando" and took out the first three letters and the D. And became, Nano.  Nano has been my name for the past 7 years, and I havn't changed it since.  It stayed with me.  ;)

I think my name is pretty obvious...James Bond fan since forever.  I chose 009 to be original and leave that other number to legend. :bang:

I added the [MI6] part to make the whole name more unique.  (For those who don't know, MI6 is the British Agency that Bond works for.  I guess most comparable to the US's CIA.)  ???

I liked when a 00 Agent is KIA, they are replaced and that number is reused.  You can see the noob I replaced in Octopussy.

I have had my moniker since shortly after making supervisor at my former employer.......retired by the way after 33 yrs.

Anyway, just after making supervisor, about 4 or 5 weeks I fired 3 of my welders. So being on the heavy side one of my men started calling me Shamu, after the killer whale. Or dolphin as Orange Marlin would say.

Anyway, it stuck and I still use it today in real life business. It's different, has a story behind it, and being in sales it helps people remember you.

I'm just glad it was not Jonah ;D

BTW......my firings were even Union supported....discreetly. The workers were scamming scheduled overtime which cost there co-workers their share of the O/T.

Two were gone permanently because of prior histories, one got 30 days. On his return he apologized to each of his associates for what he had done.

My mate  introduced me to MOHAA with a free demo of Malta.

We used to go online on MSN and use headphones (way before I had even heard of Teamspeak)

My Brother used to come on as well. We first played as axis and I saw a guy playing as Hitler. We enterd the game and called ourselves Hutler, Hatler and Hotler just for a laugh.

We always wore snowsuits and had a great laugh. I joined a clan when I bought the proper discs. I was BL Hutler, which after lots of inner clan bitching split into to BS and BL. SO i was BS Hutler then BH Hutler. Now Im BUG Hutler

That's it !
Bazooka Joe don't got a look in !!!

No not named after the Desert Eagle Handgun...

Well having served in the US Army many Moon agos...during training and actually wartime, your vechile or squad call sign would change on a daily basis due to security, and was usually some random numbers and letters, like A12( pronounced Alpha One Two) which was given to you using a Top Secert Code Book.

Anyways several times during Desert Storm, many of us had used or come up with unoffical call signs that we could use on secure channels.  Mine handle was "Desert Eagle" and my vechile call sign was "Die Hard".

Well when I got into gaming online, just seemed to be the think to do was use the Desert Eagle.  And since I am a big fan of NASA and the moon landings, I added "The Eagle Has Landed" when I would join a server... ;)

When I first started playing I was using my amateur radio callsign, the first two characters being KC. People were just calling me KC so I shortened it.

I used to be pretty massively into martial arts. I also used to fight pretty well in the ring...since I am pretty darn white, and about six four...

ever seen the rocky movie with the big russian boxer they called Draco or something similar. Never watched it myself but some students of mine picked it up and it kinda stuck since (believe it or not) I was very harsh and humorless in general.

I wound up getting called drago back then and while embarrassing at first. I started to kinda enjoy it. I brought it back now and then when Torlog and I started playing some online games. now i keep it to remember who I am, and who I was, when my world seems way to boring and average nowadays.

I use the name Draconess if i want to feel more "dressed up"  ;D

Do Not Meddle in the Affairs of Dragons; For You Are Crunchy, and Good With Ketchup...

In my case my nickname found me, it started in high school where someone throw it on the table and it stayed that way.

By the way it is a result from merging first and last name.

FS Big_Joe gave me my nickname when I first started working with him about 8 years ago. At the time I was a 15 year old kid and was just starting my first job. He slapped the K-Man nickname on me before I even started, inspired by Kramer from the tv show Seinfeld. The nickname stuck and just naturally carried over to gaming when I started playing MOHAA online.
