Home Security
« on: August 17, 2007, 11:59:23 AM »
From an E-mail my daughter sent me, this tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator.:

Put your car keys beside your bed at night.

If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car.

The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation.

Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.

It works if you park in your driveway or garage.

If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around... after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there
(disturbing their sleep ;D) and sure enough the criminal won't want that.

Sounds reasonable, thought I would post it.

When the car alarm goes off the criminal will leave. Then I'll have to chase him down to beat him to a pulp. Ide rather let him enter the house. This way i wont have to run as far to have my revenge. LOL

Good post Shamu. I had never thought that auto security would be a good home security.

I actually caught, well almost caught, a burgular in my car.

Short story is he was faster than me and the best I could do was throw a golf club after him as he ran away, of course I missed.

I had made a concious decision not to carry a gun because at the time I went looking I was only suspicious of some noise.

Well, after I discovered a live target it was a good thing for me, and for him, that I did not take a gun with me. There is absolutely no doubt I would have emptied a clip into his back as he tried to run away. First shots would have been from about 5 ft. away.

When I discovered him I was so enraged that there is no doubt I would have shot him, shot him dead if possible. Even if he went down I most likely would have fired some more for insurance. Make no mistake, I wanted to kill him.

Unfortunately, under those circumstances, I would have probably received the worst of the legal issues in a court of law.

The fact that he got away clean bothers me to this day when I think about it.

Good one Cobra. For sure Sham i would not be the one to steal your car.I`m amaze to see the risk that poeple take nowing the amount of fire arm every one as inthe US.But a don`t think it worth killing someone for a insured piece of metal. I cought a 1 black and 1 white kid trying to open my car and i gave them a serious run witch i think made then think about it.It was 2 kids 16 or 17 year old.i hope golf club or run made them think twice next time. :police: ???

Make no mistake Titan, if I thought I would not be punished myself, I would have no problem at all shooting someone stealing from me, insured piece of metal or not.

I'll have to tell you about the time I was ready to pull the trigger on a guy threatening to break into my house.

I had a shotgun loaded with double OO buckshot and was standing just inside my door. He had previously beaten his wife and she was in my house as my wife and I were trying to help her.

My mind was made up and, I even told his wife, if he even gets to the door I was shooting through the door to kill him.

Goofy story and even the details are hazy at the moment, was almost 40 years ago. But it was a time when I learned I could actually kill someone if necessary. I had absolutely no doubt that I would pull the trigger if he even got to my door.
