Topic: need your help please

hi all,
just got a new computer and loaded it all up, all my freakin games work except spearhead. i can play aa but not spearhead. when i click on the sortcut icon on the desktop it starts to load and then boots me back to the desktop. every now and then it will ask if i want to start it up in safe mode and i try that and it does the same. if you need more info let me know, thought one or two of you may have had the same problem at one time or another.

am now getting a microsoft error message saying they encountered a problem and now have to close.
-microsoft xp home
-amd dual core 4600+
-4g of kignston ram
-msi k9 diamond mother board
-e-geforce 7950gtko 512 mb vid card
-sound blaster on board
550 watt power suply

and i cant even play my game, damn that sucks! anyone?

Latest driver for the video card installed? Go to the nvidia site and take the latest driver from there. Direct x 9c also needs to be installed. Hope this takes care of the issue and if not we will try more problem solving.

MOH needs OPENGL right?
Do what Trauma advises and make sure you have opengl or check the nvidia site for this. ATI has opengl with the catalyst program it gives you. When I had an nvidia card I remember I had to download something in order to have opengl running with windows.

Im not sure if anyone has upgraded to the new windows vista os but im hearing that it does not support opengl. Has anyone managed to install vista and still play spearhead?

hi all,
grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
i downloaded the newest drivers for the vid card and also the directxc from microsoft, still no luck. i uninstalled for the 4th time, reinstalled, put on the patches, shut off the internet security and tried it and got the same thing. double click on icon, starts to load like everything is ok, then it boots me to the desktop screen like nothing ever happened.
ideas?
after the first time doing this it asks me to play it in safe mode because it crashed the first time (not sure if this helps or not)

Right click the properties of the Spearhead Icon...

then the "compatibility" tab at top

under the "compatibility" box it has Windows 2000 or NT correct?

Make sure the box is checked and change it to Windows XP via the pull down.

All other boxes are unchecked

Work now?

Hi trauma i have vista on mine i can still play it.But my card sucked so i got a gefore 7950 gt oc 256 mb gddr3 and still only run 25 fps.

After racking my brain a bit ive come up with the probable cause and solution. Some of nvidias drivers do have problems in this arena. Try going back a bit with your driver and ile bet it works. I remember updating my driver once and having this same issue. Reverting back to an older driver helped and is not always a bad thing.

I had this problem once too,........now trying to remember fix....hmmmm.
You say you get the " play in safe mode" screen?  Are you able to go to your settings in the game?....if so, try looking at your settings for video. The resolution may be set too high.
Check your desktop resolution also. It may be too high in relation to game setting.
Also, since you say it is a new computer, I remember directions for my new video card said to disable the on-board video first before installing the new card. Sort of like un-installing a previous graphics card driver.

Did you check the upper box at all?  Try it?

If not check it and then do the pull menu and select XP.

Or do the video drivers.  Str4ange that AA works and SH does not.

I had those exact symptoms before when I updated the video driver. Try using and older version for your card. call Tech support for your card. I called BFG for mine and they actually helped, and they spoke English.

tried it roo, no option for win xp. tried going back in the drivers to 3 different (thats all this card supports as its so new i guess) talked to tech suppport from nvidia, they keep emailing new drivers to try. ill do some digging on ea website today and see if i find something. thanks for all the help guys! anymore ideas keep sending them my way. 1 thing i thought of was i now use a selkin router as i have 2 computers in the house, (wireless) not sure if that would effect it but i doubt it. hunter can play on my old one (his now) and i still cant kill the little booger!!

Roam, I went on some video card forums (BFG, Evga, XFX) and people are having problems with MOH and the 7900 series cards.

No fixes yet but some have returned the cards for new ones and the new ones work....
